The Kamikaze Hearts offer "upstate porch rock" - deftly crafted descriptive tales in song. In addition to the texture of four part harmonies, the band features acoustic guitar, brushed snare drum and floor tom, acoustic bass, mandolin, banjo and dobro. With an equal affinity for the Mountain Goats, Black Sabbath, and Ricky Skaggs, the Kamikaze Hearts take a varied approach to arrangement and presentation that appeals to many disparate musical camps.

Along with playing gigs at home in Albany, New York, The Kamikaze Hearts continue to stretch the boundaries of their touring radius. Recent successful trips to Chicago, Indianapolis, Nashville, and Washington DC prove that their music can thrive in many contrasting communities. No venue is safe -- art galleries, honky-tonk bars, keg parties, barn throwdowns and rock clubs have all hosted The Kamikaze Hearts throughout their seven years of existence.

Currently, the band is preparing to release their fifth recording - "Oneida Road" on Collar City Records in September 2006. Nearly three years in the making, the full-length album has been a labor of love and disdain for the 'Hearts. The final product is a leap forward sonically, featuring much more than the acoustic modus operandi the band is known for. "Oneida..." features the addition of electric guitars, keyboards, slide guitars and heaps of choir-like backup vocals. This is the studio album that The Kamikaze Hearts' fans always knew the band could make.

In September 2004, WAMC (Northeast Public Radio) hosted a live radio show taping at the Linda Norris Auditorium in Albany, NY. Nearly two hundred fans were there to witness the recording of the first Kamikaze Hearts Radio Show. The two hour product was broadcast on thirteen radio stations in December 2004, reaching seven northeast U.S. states. Plans are in the works for more Kamikaze Hearts on WAMC.

In April of 2003, The Kamikaze Hearts and the Planetary Group from Boston, MA embarked on a six week college radio campaign to promote their most recent self-titled CD. Here are the highlights:

* "The Kamikaze Hearts" was the #9th Most Added record on the CMJ Most Added Chart with 64 college radio adds, charting higher than new records by Lucinda Williams and the Saddle Creek best of compilation.

* The recording debuted at #113 on the CMJ Top 200 and peaked at #79.

* 175 stations added the record to their playlists, 145 stations gave it at least "light spins", 122 "medium spins",
and the record charted in the TOP 30 of 80 stations!

Along with the radio campaign's help, the band is noting continued growth in national awareness due to recent inclusion on the College Music Journal's "Certain Damage" #130. Chosen by recommendation via Skidmore College Radio's music director, the song "Beverly Hills" sat alongside tracks by national acts including Blur. The compilation was distributed to thousands of college radio stations, retailers and music industry professionals in May of 2003.
